Florian Schneider-Esleben 1947-2020

I discovered Kraftwerk in 1970 when I spotted their first album in a shop window. The cover hooked me. I thought: If this record sounds as it looks, it must be great.

It was. For many years, Kraftwerk became one of the leading melodies of my life. I always thought: If I had to find a sound that represents now, then it should be like this. And then, when Kraftwerk came out with a new album, it sounded exactly like this. This worked until the 1990s. I lost a bit the plot about Kraftwerk then, but the band was still there and still unique.

And they are the only band I saw seven times on stage, between 1971 and 2014.

Bye bye, Florian!
