New York Times

In the U.S., just another highlight of the American press fades away: The New York Times announced to stop publishing political caricatures. Up to now, political caricatures always were inherent part of the daily op-ed pages.

It is sad that it's just one of the flagships of the American press -- if there's one paper that would be able to defend itself against all kind of renderings and has no need to accept any pressure, it's the New York Times. But this seems to be a trend. Also the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a paper I appreciated for a long time, fired its caricaturist Rob Rogers a while ago -- a multiple award-winning master of his métier. This was not a good signal. Actually, it turned out to be the start of the paper's slow downfall into the pro-Trump camp. And as it looks, it was not even worth it, the paper still loses circulation. Meanwhile, there are no printed editions anymore on Tuesday and Saturday.
