Time is running

The much-valued Kronos Quartet of San Francisco, which I recently had the pleasure to see live on stage, opens up a new chapter. There's no way to call it anything else, as two of the quartet's long-time members, John Sherba (violin) and Hank Dutt (viola) announced their retirement after more than 45 years. All the best to you, guys!

Changes in the quartet's line-up happened from time to time; Kronos had a couple of cellists. The latest newcomer on the cello was Paul Wiancko. John Sherba and Hank Dutt will be replaced by violinist Gabriela Diaz and violist Ayane Kozasa; the only remaining "original" member will be Kronos' founder and artistic director, David Harrington.

Kronos will not be the same anymore, but I'm sure the spirit will remain.
